We're in a period of transition with regard to develop files for on-line viewing. The files are divided into two major categories: the most recent versions, which are in Apple DocViewer format, and earlier back issues, which are in HyperCard format and are in a separate folder. All back issues will eventually be converted to DocViewer.
VIEWING IN APPLE DOCVIEWER
To view an Apple DocViewer version of develop, double-click the file named, for example, "develop 12". (The companion file — "develop 12.idx" in this case — is an "index file" needed by DocViewer.) You need to have the Palatino, Times, Helvetica, and Courier fonts (both bitmap and TrueType) in your System Folder; a folder containing those fonts is included in the same folder as Apple DocViewer on this disc.
Here are some tips about printing from DocViewer:
• When you want to print a particular page or pages, add 2 to the page number. The reason for this is that Apple DocViewer starts its numbering with the front cover, while the paper version of the publication begins its numbering with the Table of Contents. For example, to print page 31, you would enter page 33 in the Print dialog box.
• When you need to print artwork at its highest clarity, print with the Color/Grayscale option selected in the Print dialog box.
The "develop Index" folder in the same folder as this Help file contains a DocViewer version of the cumulative index for all issues of develop.

VIEWING IN HYPERCARD
In the folder containing the back issues that are in HyperCard format, you'll find a stack called "develop Help" with tips on looking at these issues. You'll also find a cumulative index for issues 1 through 11; note however, that some of those issues have been converted to Apple DocViewer, so clicking on index entries for those issues will yield a message telling you to go to the DocViewer document.
